County Natural Disaster Plan Updated

Not much has changed in the list of natural disasters that could befall Nevada County since the last survey was done.  Every 5 years the local Office of Emergency Services is required to survey county staff and local agencies of the perceived threats to the county. Nevada County Office of Emergency Services Director, Vic Ferrara says the list was unchanged in the latest survey.

To remain eligible for non-emergency disaster assistance the county must adopt a Local Hazard Mitigation Plan serving as a guide for decision makers as they commit resources to reducing the effects of natural hazards.  Local Plans also serve as the basis for the state to provide technical assistance and to prioritize project funding.

The new Local Hazard Mitigation Plan for Nevada County has been adopted by the County Board of Supervisors and will remain in effect through 2016.
