County Plans To Help Builders Recover From Fires

Nevada County residents who lost their homes or property from the wildfires are getting some federal and state assistance, but that assistance may not have been possible if it wasn’t for the Forty Niner Fire nearly three decades ago. That plans needs to be updated every few years, but FEMA and other relief agencies need to see it before any federal dollars are sent. Currently, FEMA and the Red Cross are helping out, with both opening a service center on Saturday. Weston says the permit process to rebuild is being decided, but was discussed at the Disaster Assistance Center last week…

The Small Business Administration will be available to meet with residents regarding disaster recovery loans starting today at the Rood Center, and there will be a community meeting about the Fire Debris Removal Program with state officials tonight at 6pm in the Board Chambers.
