It’s an issue you haven’t heard about in awhile, but it hasn’t gone away. Environmental impact reviews are still being done for three proposed Dollar General stores in Nevada County. In January, a hearing was held, and public comment was taken. Written comments were also submitted, and Nevada County Principal Planner Tyler Barrington says his office is still going through them…
Barrington says they’ve gotten a few hundred of them…
Three stores are being proposed-one in Alta Sierra, one in Penn Valley, and the other on Rough and Ready Highway just outside of Grass Valley. After the comments are reviewed, a final Environmental Impact Report will be released, and more hearings will be held. Barrington wouldn’t estimate when that might happen.

I cannot imagine a more grevious degradation of the environment along the Rough and Ready Hwy than one of these offensive and obnoxious stores.
The traffic issues at this location will be a major problem although since so few people frequent these pathetic retail outlets I am not sure that will be a concern.
The are a blight on the retail horizon.
