County Survey on Trail Easments

What’s to become of the easment trails that run through the Lode Star, Golden Oaks, and Sunshine Valley subdivisions along Highway 49 south of Alta Sierra?  Larkyn Feiler  is the Project Planner for a study of those easments and trails that many believe are a part of the Emigrant Trail that brought people to California in the 1800’s.   She says there are about six miles of easements that wind through the three subdivisions but the problem is many of the easments are not connected.

Property owners in the subdivisions have indicated they would like to see the easements abandoned or do  a combination of closing the trails to public use but maintaining the historic preservation component.

A Public Survey on what should be done with the easements closed today after receiving over 600 responses.  Feiler says the county staff will review those responses and will be reporting back to the board of supervisors on all options for the Lode Star, Golden Oaks and Sunshine Valley subdivision trail easements.
