County Takes Action On Business With Hazardous Materials

Nevada County Department of Environmental Health is responsible for programs involving environmental protection and public health. Recently the department completed a complex and multifaceted enforcement action against a Nevada County business.  Program Manager, David Huff says the business was found to be illegally storing and treating hazardous wastes at great risk to its employees and its facility.

The investigation in conjunction with a local Fire District took over five months to complete.
The department used its Administrative Enforcement Order authority to resolve 24 violations in three areas.

If the business did not come into compliance the department has the authority to turn the case over to the District Attorney’s Office. The business name is being withheld until the entire process is complete.
