As you drive around Nevada County this time of year, you’ve undoubtedly noticed a bunch of roadside fruit stands. Chances are, though, they are operating illegally…
County Code Compliance Division Program Manager Gregory Shaffer says it’s for health reasons that permits are required…
Shaffer says for every visit they make to an illegal stand,a warning will be issued. After that, which can be a few days later, they are cited, and items sold can be confiscated. Gregory says if you see an illegal roadside vendor, you are asked to report it by calling the county’s code compliance department (470-2788).
