County Website Receives “A+” Score for Transparency

Nevada County has been awarded a perfect “A+” score by The Sunshine Review, a national non profit organization dedicated to government transparency for the information that is made available to the public on the new county website www.mynevadacounty.com. Nevada County CEO Rick Haffey credits Steve Monighan the County Information Systems Manager for leading his team to develop a new county website that makes 10 subject areas available on line. Haffey says the Sunshine Review was contacted for their input prior to the County website being constructed on what information they believe every public organization should have available on-line.

For the 2012 awards, Editors at Sunshine Review analyzed more than 6,000 government websites and graded each on a 10-point transparency checklist. Nevada County was the only one of the 58 counties in the state to receive that high award. Haffey says the new County website makes all the information available with the search engine on the county website home page.
