The batteries are about 10 years old which is way beyond their expected life.  Monaghan says Nevada County needs to be able to run the county data center uninterupted during a power outage.

All online services at the county will be down during the upgrade . People who normally use the county website to plan their Gold Country Stage travel should do that ahead of time.  Electricians are expected to start their work between 5:30 and 6:00 tomorrow morning. The cost for the project is about $30 thousand dollars.
