County’s Summer Reading Program Underway

With school out, and the kids with more time on their hands, Nevada County’s Summer Reading Program is now underway…

Madelyn Helling Library Manager Yolanda Wilburn says enough stickers entitles them to attend programs which will be held at different libraries thoughout the summer. Those programs include a stuffed animal sleepover, crafts days , “I Spy at the Library’ and more. The theme this year is ‘Read For the Win’, celebrating the upcoming Olympics, but Wilburn says there’s no restrictions on what the kids read…

They are asked to read 20 minutes a day. The program got underway Monday and lasts through July 27th with a celebration party. Participants will also be able to march in the Fourth of July Parade, and decorate cowboy boots for the County Fair. Wilburn adds there are also summer reading programs for adults as well.
