For their long-time service and dedication to the Nevada County fair, a local couple has been named to the Fair’s Hall of Fame. Fairgrounds Deputy Manager Robin Hauk says George and Sandy Woods have been heavily involved since they moved to the area in 1985…
Besides being exhibitors, during the Fair they even shovelled manure and assisted with cleaning the barns for the Farm Bureau. They have also been buyers at the Junior Livestock Auction and performed demonstrations of canning, pickling, pressure cooking, and deyhdration. But Hauk points out that induction criteria includes more than JUST Fair time….
Sandy Woods started working as Deputy Manager at the Fairgrounds in 1995 and served as CEO from 2009 to 2015. She also served as a member of the Board of Directors of the Western Fairs Association for 10 years, including a year as Board president, before inducted into their Hall of Fame last year. During this time, George worked behind the scenes as the head volunteer at the Fairgrounds. The couple celebrate their 40th wedding anniversary in October and have three children.
