Crash Ruled Accident; 9-1-1 Tapes Released

Officials are considering the crash at Marysville Raceway Park last month that killed a Grass Valley man and a Santa Rosa teenager as an accident. The sprint car had apparent mechanical problems when it flew out of control and into the pit area. The Yuba County Sheriff’s Department has released the frantic 911 calls from the March 16 tragedy…

68 year-old Dale Wondergem Junior of Grass Valley and 14 year-old Marcus Johnson of Santa Rosa were killed…

It’s believed that Wondergem owned one of the cars, but not the car that crashed. 17-year-old Chase Johnson of the Sonoma County community of Penngrove, and a cousin of the 14 year-old, was driving the sprint car.  He was not seriously injured.
