Crosswalk Safety a Concern Around the State

Drivers must stop when someone is in a cross walk. CHP Public Information Officer Greg Tassone says California drivers are among the worst for not stopping for a person crossing the street. Officer Tassone says driver are required to stop and wait till the person is all the way across the street.

Pedestrians have been killed and injured in the local area even when they are in the cross walk. The CHP and all law enforcement is asking driver to share the road with pedestrians, bicyclist and joggers. Drivers may feel because they have a car they have the right away, which may not be the case.
