Crowds Cheer for BSM Triathlon

With the sound of a horn participants in the first leg of the Barbara Schmidt Millar Celebration of Life Triathlon were off for a swim in Scotts Flat Lake in Cascade Shores Sunday morning.

Four Hundred  plus women competed in the 18th Celebration of Life Triathlon which  raises funds to pay for mamograms for women who otherwise could not afford them and for  schollarships for female Nevada Union High School Grads going into the health care field.  Many participants were there to support cancer survivors.

The overall Triathlon winner is Maria “Flor” Hodges,  followed by Monica Erdosh of Foresthill and Wenn Madigan of Nevada City, all finishing three legs of the race in less than one hour and 15 minutes. Kirsten Dutton of Nevada City won the 5k/run in 23 minutes and 5 seconds.
