Nevada County’s District Attorney is still trying to decide whether or not to file murder charges against a Grass Valley woman after an A-T-V accident that resulted in the death of one of her passengers. Cliff Newell says his office is working hard to try to gather all the facts…
According to the Highway Patrol, 29 year-old Carlee D’Arata was driving the all-terrain vehicle under the influence of alcohol Saturday evening on Old Coach Way near Lower Colfax Road, when she lost control and crashed. Thirty-one year-old Antonette Thevenin of Grass Valley was not wearing a seat belt, and was ejected. She later died from injuries after the vehicle landed on top of her. D’Arata fled the scene, but Newell says it’s because she was previously convicted on a D-U-I charge that she could be charged with homicide. Newell says it’s what they call a ‘Watson murder’…
Newell sas he has no definite time frame on when charges will be filed, but it will likely come in the next few days.
