Nevada County’s State Senator is a member of a Special Budget Subcommittee that discussed economic impacts of the coronavirus emergency on Thursday. Two members were there in-person at the State Capitol, while the others, including Brian Dahle, participated via Zoom. And Dahle says state budget cuts are already inevitable, despite the state being in much better fiscal shape, compared to the recession of about a decade ago…
Dahle acknowledged that the Legislature has little or no say in how money is spent, with the governor’s emergency powers, including contracting to produce personal equipment and other resources. But he’d still like to see more oversight. Dahle also says there are some impacts that haven’t been noticed as much, including doctors and other medical professionals not directly involved with coronavirus treatments…
Dahle also says he’d like to see more so-called “soft openings” of businesses in the near future, as long as customer traffic is restricted through continued social distancing measures.
