A bill authored by Nevada County’s Assemblyman has been signed into law by the governor. Assembly Bill 2029 by Brian Dahle reduces some of the regulation and red tape on landowners working to thin the timber on their property to reduce fire danger. Dahle says it’s an extension of a previous bill that created a pilot program in 2013…
Dahle says his original proposal was to increase the diameter allowed to 28 inches, but that was met by opposition…
Dahle says allowing trees that are a little bit bigger to be cut down will help offset the cost of removal and regulation, and also helps further reduce fire danger. The new law goes into effect January 1.
