Daly Gets 8 Years In Death Of His Wife

A 73-year-old Grass Valley man, originally facing a murder prosecution in the death of his wife, has been sentenced to eight years in prison for assault with great bodily injury. In March, a jury was unable to reach a verdict on either charge, regarding Dennis Daly, a Viet Nam War veteran. But, with prosecutors expected to seek a re-trial for assault, and facing stronger evidence, Daly pleaded guilty less than two weeks later. Assistant District Attorney Chris Walsh says they were unable to convince the jury of a direct link between the assault and 63-year-old Stacey Daly’s death, since she had gone into a coma and eventually died of a stroke…
