Dementia Campaign Surpasses Funding Goal

Funding support continues to grow for taking care of dementia and Alzheimer’s patients in Nevada County. The Sierra Nevada Memorial Hospital Foundation says they’ve surpassed their goal to raise at least $200,000 this year for what’s called the “Remember Me: The Face Behind Dementia Campaign”. Parker says although Nevada County now has a lot more services for its growing seninor population, help still lags for the estimated 3,000 residents in the western part of the county with Alzheimer’s or dementia, including about 10,000 local caregivers…

Parker says Alzheimer’s not only affects health but impacts the finances and lifestyles of families. She says the vast majority of the money raised comes from private donations.
