Nevada County has a new Agriculture Commissioner. Chris DeNijs (duh-NIZE) has been appointed to the position, and the Board of Supervisors gave its formal approval at their meeting this morning. The Ag Commissioner also deals with pest regulations and weights and measures. DeNijs is currently the Deputy Ag Commissioner of Stanislaus County, and says he’s looking forward to meeting with local growers and producers….
DeNijs is originally from Antioch, and has a degree in Agricultural Business from Chico State. He will relocate to Nevada County with his wife and two young children. His first day on the job will be Monday.
