Departing Chief says Change Needed at NCCFD

Nevada County Consolidated Fire Chief Adolf Zubia who is resigning at the end of this month after just 3 months on the job says he believes his  influence was evident in some of the things accomplished,  however he says  the changes that should be happening at the district should be happening at a faster rate.  Zubia says there are some critical things that need to be addressed and one of them is the 5 year budget projection that was presented to the Nevada County Consolidated Board at the last meeting that outlines expenses exceeding revenues next fiscal year if no changes are made..

The board meets tonight(Thursday) at 7 p.m.  and they are also expected to take up  significant issues like replacing the chief and who they  may or may not name as interim chief.

Zubia says he has  a unique perspective coming from the outside and looking at the organization as a whole.  His goal was to come up with a strategic plan for the organization that defines what they do, where they’re going, and how they are going to get there. He says he  didn’t get the chance to get that process started.
