Deputies Respond to Sunday Calls

A man screaming near the Nevada County Fair Grounds had law enforcement looking for the source. Nevada County Sheriff Keith Royal says a Deputy near the Fairgrounds Sunday afternoon when he heard a man screaming. The Deputy officer from the Highway Patrol and Grass Valley Police found the man in a heavily wooded area. The officers heard him yelling some bazaar biblical references. The Sheriff says they found 27 year old Owen James of Nevada City under the influence of dangerous drugs.

Sheriff Royal says the man was taken into custody for suspicion of possession of dangerous drugs, being under the influence and resisting arrest.

Sheriff’s deputies witnessed a man assault his girlfriend at a home on Howe Avenue, early Sunday morning. Nevada County Sheriff Keith Royal says deputies were called to the home because 25 year old Shaun Harris was beating his girlfriend. The Sheriff says when the deputies arrived they were in time to see Harris run from a room and jump on the victim.

The Sheriff says another woman was also assaulted by Harris. The man was taken into custody for suspicion of domestic violence and battery. The victim was not seriously injured in the attack.
