Designated Drivers End Up Not Being Sober

Designated drivers turning out to not be so sober when pulled over. That is the case with a young woman who was acting as the designated driver for her friends late Saturday night. CHP Officer Greg Tassone says a report of a potential DUI demonstrating reckless behavior was reported on Highway 49.

Tassone says that often times, in cases likes this, the driver thought they were OK to drive.

Situations like this are not uncommon during the holiday season, when people think they have waited long enough to drive.

Those consequences include long term effects on insurance, and driving records for at least seven years.
Tassone says a true Designated Driver does not consume any alcohol.
