Despite Lowell Fire Fewer Wildfires Fought So Far

You might be surprised to hear that, so far this season, there have been fewer wildfires fought by the Nevada-Yuba-Placer CalFire unit, compared to a year ago. Morris says about 3-thousand acres have gone up in smoke, at this point, although about 23-hundred is attributed to the Lowell fire. Last year’s acreage was just 534 acres. Meanwhile, MORE wildfires HAVE been fought statewide by CalFire, at around 24-hundred-50, compared to around 2-thousand-25 a year ago…

Morris says over 126-thousand acres have been scorched in CalFire’s responsibility area in California, which is up 43-thousand acres. And, of course, the driest months of the season are September and October.
