Dog Bar Fire

DogBar, Dog Bar Road near Norwin way, Nevada County. Firefighters are battling a 20 acre fire off Dog Bar Rd & Taylor Crossing Rd near Alta Sierra (Nevada County).

September 13, 2014 at 5:55 PM Strike teams from neighboring counties are coming in to relieve some of the firefighters that have been battling the fire for the past 4 hours. Comments on all scanner frequencies are talking about good progress. No damage assessment done yet and the cause of the fire is still under investigation.

September 13, 2014 at 5:43 PM Firefighters are starting to improve existing lines and extinguish hot spots. Some resources are being released from the fire, which is confirmation of progress made.

September 13, 2014 at 5:37 PM Air attack 210 out of Chico is inbound to the Dog Bar Fire to relieve the current air attack 230.

 

September 13, 2014 at 5:20 PM The Sikorsky Skycrane helicopter and 4 others are continuing to work the fire. Also, some of the air tankers currently working are capable of dropping 3,000 gallons of retardant in one drop. Grass Valley Air Attack Base is very busy, with 11 tankers reloading and fueling up.

September 13, 2014 at 2:39 PM Smoke plume is widely visible from Colfax, Alta Sierra and Grass Valley areas. Numerous agencies are assisting CAL FIRE. This is the only fire in Nevada County and Placer County as of now.

September 13, 2014 at 2:32 PM Air resources are assisting the firefighters on the ground with a wildland fire on Dog Bar Road. Two tankers, two helicopters and one air attack plane over the Dog Bar Fire.
