What would normally have been a routine walking of the dog in Grass Valley turned into quite an ordeal for the owner. Firefighter Robert Bundy says Brady, a 13-year-old schnauzer mix, fell about 70 feet down a 400 foot section of buried 22-inch diameter storm drain…
Brady is also partially blind and deaf. Fortunately, the drain pipe was unusually dry for this time of year, due to the lack of rain. But Bundy says the downward angle of the pipe, plus Brady’s condition, made extrication a challenge. Finally, after about an hour and a half of various attempts, Bundy says a 300-foot long fire hose turned out to be a very handy device…
Bundy says Brady appeared to want to get away from the hose, in coming out on the other side of the pipe, also responding to calls from his owner and other people helping out, including from the police department and animal control.
