Dollar General Environmental Report Released

The Nevada County Planning Department has finally released the Environmental Impact Report on three proposed Dollar General retail stores. The two volumes, and literally a thousand pages is full of traffic studies, reports on how construction will affect vegetation, and possible threats to endangered species. Almost 300 letters from individuals as part of the public comment section are also included, but County Principal Planner Tyler Barrington says most of those letters just reflect personal feelings about having the national retail chain in their neighborhood…

The report covers three proposed stores–one in Alta Sierra, one in Penn Valley, and one in Grass Valley on Rough and Ready Highway. The report now has a public review period before public hearings begin. Barrington says those hearings could begin in a couple of months. Click here to view the Environmental Impact Report.
