The victim was able to get to a home alarm panel and hit the panic button and the alarm company called the police. The suspect, 65 year old Charles Slavonic, fled the house and could not be located. However he did return to the residence around 11:00 AM. Officers had been watching the residence and took Slovanic into custody for domestic violence as well as damaging communications lines to keep the victim from calling police.
