Driver Swerves to Avoid Deer

One local driver had to make a split second decision whether to hit a deer or a tree.  California Highway Patrol Officer Justin Barnthouse says the 23 year old Nevada City man was driving his 2011 Subaru on Idaho Maryland Road when he said a deer ran out in front of him. Officer Barnthouse says the driver made the choicee to swerve out of the path of the deer.

The Subaru will likely be declared a total loss. The driver’s injures were not serious.
