Drivers Escape Serious Injury in Head-On Crash

There was a head on collision on McCourtney Road just south of Adair Avenue  yesterday afternoon, but the California Highway Patrol says  although there was significant damage to both vehicles, due to the use of seat belts and activation of air bags, serious injuries were avoided.   It was about 1:30 yesterday afternoon when a 59-year-old Roseville man  driving a Nissan Versa was looking for an address in the area and pulled onto the east shoulder to turn around. The driver then proceeded southbound on McCourtney Road in the northbound lane.   As the Nissan Versa crested a low hill and rounded a curve to the left, a Nissan Frontier driven by a 22 year old Auburn woman rounded the same curve from the opposite direction and the vehicles collided head-on.  Both drivers escaped serious injury but were transported to Sierra Nevada Memornial Hospital with complaints of pain where they were treated and released.
