There was perfect weather for the 21st annual Barbara Schmitt Millar duathalon Sunday morning in Cascade Shores. While it is normally a triathalon which includes a swimming segment, the very low lake levels prevented that this year. But there were still several participants who ran and biked the course, many of them, like Dr. Sarah Woerner, doing it for a cause.

Cathy Die had several names written on the shirt she was wearing for the duathlon of people she has known.
She says the duathlon is one way she can remember and honor them.
Event Director Nancy Avilla was on site early Sunday morning with a slew of volunteers. They wanted to get a head start because the course was a new one this year, and they had one surprise visitor.

The funds raised this year will go towards providing free mammograms for those who can’t afford them, and to fund scholarships for women going into the health care field after High School.
