Drug Take Back Day Success

Grass Valley Police are calling last weekend’s Drug Take Back Day a success.

Sergeant Steve Johnson says they did things a lit bit differently this time. People were asked to pour the medications out of the containers and into boxes to save space.

Johnson says combined with medications that have been dropped off at local pharmacies and at the police department in their year-round locations, 862 pounds of unwanted and potentially hazardous drugs were delivered to the Drug Enforcement Agency for disposal.

Drug Take Back Days are done twice a year around the country. Johnson says 371 tons (742-thousand pounds) of medications were collected nationally this time.
