Drug Take Back Day this Saturday

Local law enforcement and the Coalition for a Drug Free Nevada County will participate in a National Drug Take Back Day on Saturday . Nevada County Sheriff’s Lt. Steve Tripp says there has been increasing interest in these type of events from the community .

For this event they are going to have 4 drop off locations in the county, three manned by the sheriff’s department.

The Fourth Drop off location will be manned by Grass Valley Police and it will be at the corner of Neal and South Auburn Street. Coalition for a Drug Free Nevada County Board member Shelley Rogers says events like this are also important to thwart abuse of prescription medications .

Lt. Tripp says Liquid products and pills in sealed containers will be accepted for safe disposal.

People are discouraged from flushing unwanted pills down the toilet as that has been found to be toxic to the environment.
