Drug Takeback Nets 92 Pounds of Pills

It was quite a haul, but not quite as much as in the past. Grass Valley Police collected 92 pounds of prescription drugs from their drug takeback event over the weekend. The department conducts two of these events a year, and Captain Steve Johnson says last year they collected 151 pounds at one event..

Johnson also suggests that more people may be more aware of the prescription drug takeback programs and might not be hanging on to the unwanted meds as they used to. Nationally, Johnson says the federal Drug Enforcement Agency has been conducting these takeback events at over 54-hundred sites…

The drugs are disposed of properly, and are kept from either being flushed down the toilet, thrown in the garbage, or abused by children or seniors.
