DUI vs Cyclist Fatality in Auburn

A cyclist killed in in a DUI incident in Auburn early Thursday morning. CHP Officer Nico Bonofilio says that a call came in just after 6:30 that a vehicle versus a bicycle occurred on westbound Foresthill Road near Lincoln Way.

Preliminary investigation has the bicyclist riding on the shoulder of the road when for reasons still under investigation the driver of a 1998 Toyota pickup truck hit the cyclist. The pickup driver initially tried to call 911 and a passerby that stopped to help also called Auburn Police. During the investigation the driver was taken into custody.
