DUI’s Not Much Different From Last Christmas

Despite all the coronavirus restrictions, there wasn’t much change in driving misbehavior for the CHP’s Christmas Weekend Maximum Enforcement Period in Nevada County. Officer Jason Bice says there were four DUI arrests, compared to three a year ago. It’s believed all four involved alcohol, with two accidents involving minor or no injuries. Highway 49 between Grass Valley and Auburn was also a problem area. Meanwhile, Bice says traffic volume wasn’t much different, even though people were discouraged from making Chistmas visits. But he says there were impacts regarding non-family destinations…

Bice says DUI arrests for the entire CHP Valley Division also didn’t change much, or 73. That also includes Sacramento, Placer, El Dorado, Yuba, Sutter, and Sierra Counties. This year’s Christmas Maximum Enforcement Period began Thursday at 6pm, or Christmas Eve, and ended Sunday at midnight.
