An unemployed Nevada City man wound up arrested for domestic violence when his wife’s friend called the Sheriff’s Department to do a welfare check  at the woman’s  home in the 11 thousand block of Ridge Road. The woman reported to her friend that  31 year old John William Grimes had punched her in the temple 9 to 10 times earlier in the week. Nevada County Undersheriff Joe Salavar says when Deputies came to the house to do the welfare check on Saturday, May 3rd, the wife showed evidence of having been assaulted again.

Grimes was eventually taken into custody and booked for Inflicting corporal injury to a spouse or cohabitant, damaging a wireless communications device  and committing a felony while on bail.
