E Book Readers Soar in Popularity

The population of e-book readers is growing.  A  Pew survey shows  33 percent of all Americans  ages 16 and older  who read  at least one e-book in the past year had also read at least one e-book.
e-book readersThe move toward e-book reading coincides with an increase in ownership of electronic book reading devices.  In all the number of owners of either a tablet computer or e-book reading device such as a Kindle or Nook grew from 18 percent in late 2011 to 33 percent in late 2012.  Nevada County Librarian Jessica Hudson says use of e-books from the Nevada County Library data base is also increasing.

There is an increasing demand for libraries to carry e-books .  Hudson says The  Nevada County Library has around 7,000 items in e-book formant. She says print material is also, still very popular.

E-Books are available for check out from the Nevada County Library through the Overdrive Program.  for details go the Library website.

Hudson says the Nevada County Library will be increasing its  e-book selection with grant funds they received from the Air Quality Control District.
