Bicyclist and Pedestrian Safety Efforts Continue

Hoping to address a disturbing increase in pedestrians and bicyclists being hit by vehicles, the California Highway Patrol has received another year of federal funding help. The grant runs through September of next year. Tassone says problem areas in Nevada County that have few or no bicycle lanes include Old Auburn, Bittney Springs, McCourtney, and Indian Springs Roads…

But Tassone says injuries to students walking or bicycling to class are not very numerous, since so many take the bus, due to the longer distances to schools, with this being a more rural county. He says much of the special enforcement programs will be implemented during the late spring and summer months.
