Funding to cover moving and set-up costs for a new and larger domestic violence shelter for Nevada County are on the way. The Board of Supervisors are expected to approve the 15-thousand dollars at their Tuesday meeting. But the director of the Domestic Violence and Assault Coalition, Gayle Guest-Brown, says they haven’t nailed down a site. She says they haven’t reached a lease agreement yet with the landlord of the home they were hoping to move into between mid-August and September first. So they are open to other offers….

Brown says there’s been a 79-percent increase in people they were unable to shelter. Last year, 82 victims had to be re-directed to other programs and other counties because the current 3-bedroom facility was full…

Brown says anyone who feels they might have a suitable home for the shelter’s needs are urged to call the Coalition office at 272-2046.
