By Ashlyn Rhodes

May 8 is the Nevada City Elks Lodge’s annual Law Enforcement Appreciation Dinner.  Event coordinator Janis Woolsey says that the dinner lets the Elks give back to local officers.

Law enforcement officials can flash their badge at the door to get a free rib eye steak dinner with all the trimmings.  Non-law enforcement guests and community members are also welcome, though they are asked to pay for their meal.  During the dinner, Woolsey says some department heads present awards to their officers.

The bar will open at 4 p.m. and dinner will be served at 6:30.  May 1 is the last day to make reservations for the May 8 dinner.  To get your name on the list, whether you’re an officer or a community member, call Janis Woolsey at 265-4877.
