Elly Nominations Announced

Western Nevada County production companies have again fared well in the annual Elly nominations, with 36 out of the total of 436 for the Sacramento region. That includes Sue LeGate-Halford, who received a lead actress nomination in the Comedy category for LeGacy Presents “Brighton Beach Memoirs”. She says it may be the first time ever where a son directed a mother and both got nominated, with Alvis LeGate also getting a nod. Les Solomon was also nominated for Lighting Design and Darryl Stines for Set Design. In the Young People’s Plays division, the Nevada County Performing Arts Guild got three nominations for “Alice in Wonderland”. Executive Director Paulette Rudolph says that included Sloane Morton, a veteran performer, in the lead actor category, for his role as the King of Hearts…

Jasper Walters was nominated in a supporting role, Jeannine Watson got a nod for Costume Design. Other local production companies getting nominations included Quest Theaterworks, for “Gideon’s Knot”, Sierra Stages’ “Peter Pan”, the Community Asian Theatre’s “Hotel on the Corner of Bitter and Sweet”, Bear River High School’s “Little Shop of Horrors” ,Colfax High School’s “The Wizard of Oz” and “True Believers”. The youth awards program will be September 13th at Cosumnes Oaks High School, with the adult awards program on September 27th at the Elks Lodge in Sacramento.
