Embezzlement Suspect Fails To Show Up For Trial

A Penn Valley woman charged with embezzling funds while serving as president of the Pleasant Valley  Elementary School District Parent Club failed to show up in a Nevada County courtroom for her trial on Tuesday. An 80-thousand dollar warrant has been issued for the arrest of Michele Huni. A judge recently approved her request to withdraw her no contest plea. The request was made over uncertainties of her receiving alternative sentencing. Huni is alleged to have taken around 11-thousand dollars from the Parent Club account, spending it partly on a cellphone and groceries, among other things.
