Another plea agreement for a Penn Valley woman accused of embezzling a local parents club last year. And this one will stay in place. After being convicted for failing to appear in court, in July, sentences have been combined for both cases. Assistant Nevada County District Attorney Joe Alexander says Michele Huni has to serve what’s called a 20-month “county prison sentence”, thanks to the state’s prison overcrowding reduction program….

Alexander says Huni must also serve 28 months of mandatory community supervision, which has similar requirements as a parole, but it’s under the supervision of the county probation department. About a year ago, Huni had accepted, then rejected, a plea agreement, in return for a one-year jail sentence and five years probation…

Huni also once had a chance to reduce the sentence, depending on how much restitution she could pay. But she has been unable to pay any of it, and that offer is no longer on the table. A restitution hearing is scheduled for the 30th. As president of the Pleasant Valley Elementary School District Parent Club, Huni stole about 11-thousand dollars.
