Emotions Run High in Altercation

A father and son spending time together on New Year’s Day ended up in a confrontation that worried the father that his son might harm himself or others. Sheriff Keith Royal says the son became upset after having a few beers with his father before returning to the duos mining camp in the vicinity of You Bet Rd and Red Dog Mine Rd.

The father was able to calm his son down and offered to get him another beer when his son started talking about committing violent acts.

The father allegedly heard gunshots while getting to the safe area.

Upon arrival sheriff’s deputies were able to contact the son, Eric Garmish, and convince him to surrender without additional incident. Garmish was taken into custody for assault on the father adn making terrorists threats to teh father and rest of the family members.
