The Nevada County community once again showed its compassion for those in need. On Saturday, Hospitality House’s Empty Bowl Celebration and Fundraiser for the Homeless drew a full house at both the afternoon and evening seating. Organizer Pinky Zalkin says the the turnout exceeded expectations

With over 600 guests purchasing a handmade empty bowl donated by local artists and enjoying donated soup and other treats, hospitality House Case Manager Jeffery Dupra says the event is more of a celebration than a fundraiser.

Hospitality House’s longest standing guest, known as “The Professor”, put it all in perspective when he was asked what does Hospitality House and an event like The Empty Bowl mean to him.

People supporting The Empty Bowl event and Hospitality House donated 20 dollars to receive a one of a kind bowl and a hot soup meal while enjoying local entertainment and good company as part of the celebration.
