ERC Submits Half-a-Million Dollar Grant for Digital Media Leadership Campus

It took a final push but the Economic Resource Council submitted a 500,000 dollar grant to the U.S. Department of Commerce to help fund a Digital Leadership Media Campus in Western Nevada County. Executive Director Jon Gregory tells KNCO they submitted the grant just under the deadline last week.

The Digital Media Leadership Campus could serve several purposes including space for industry start-up companies, space for companies to use for training purposes to develop a competent workforce, space for companies looking to relocate to Nevada County, and space and tools for video conferencing and distance education.

Gregory emphasizes that the grant would not have been completed if a number of community agencies, business, and individuals had not stepped up to support the effort.

Gregory acknowledges the grant is highly competitive throughout the nation, but feels like the ERC application is exceptional. The U.S. Department of Commerce will make the decision on funded applications in the next 90 days.
