Nevada County has launched the 7th Cycle 2027–2035 Housing Element Update, focusing on planning for future housing needs in the unincorporated areas of the county. This state‑required process includes assessing housing needs, identifying sites for future development, and planning for the County’s Regional Housing Needs Allocation of 3,712 housing units. A public workshop will be held on September 29, 2026, from 6:00 PM to 7:30 PM in the Board Chambers at the Nevada County Government Center (950 Maidu Avenue, Nevada City). Community participation is vital, this is an opportunity to learn about the Housing Element, share local housing concerns, and help shape policies for the 2027–2035 planning period. The County will continue gathering public input throughout summer and fall 2026 and will release a Public Draft Housing Element for review later this year.
