All the numbers are in, and they signify a banner year for the 2016 Nevada County Fair…
Fair C-E-O Rea Callender says he doesn’t know if the 100-thousand mark is a record, but crowds haven’t been that big in the last several years. The Junior Livestock Auction grossed more than 490-thousand dollars for the youth of Nevada County, with 236 animals sold. The Ag Mechanics auction featured 57 custom items hand made by Nevada Union and Bear River F-F-A students, and brought in 54-thousand dollars. Both of those auctions are up from last year. Callender says Treat Street generated more than 900-thousand dollars for non-profits, which also could be a record…
That’s eight-thousand more than last year. Almost 10,500 attended the arena events, including Monster Trucks which was a sellout, and the KNCO Destruction Derby, which was a near-sellout. The Fair featured more than 74-hundred exhibits.
