Fairgrounds to Host First Gun Show Since 2002

The Nevada County Fairgrounds hasn’t had one in 15 years, but that is changing this weekend. They are hosting a gun show. The Grass Valley Outdoor Sporting and Gun Show runs both tomorrow and Sunday. There hasn’t been a gun show at the fairgrounds since 2002, shortly after Laura Wilcox and two others were shot to death by a person with mental health problems. Callender also says the event has met with little opposition, although there were about five people who spoke against it at a recent board meeting…

No one is allowed to buy a gun at the show and take it home that day–there is a ten-day waiting period and background check required. Callender says there are about 50 vendors at the show, and only a handful of them actually sell guns.
