Falls Prevention Event

Every second of every day in the United States an older adult falls, making falls the number one cause of injuries and deaths from injury among older Americans. That’s why the Nevada County Falls Prevention Coalition is putting on a community event next Wednesday September 27 to help people learn how to prevent falls and become healthier and stronger.  Karen Marinovich is organizing the event for the Falls Prevention Coalition.

This year’s keynote speaker wil feature Leslie Kernisan, MD..a clinical instructor at UCSF Division of Geriatrics . Marinovich says they have broadened the age group for the audience they are trying to reach.

During the event there will also be a discussion of the impact of medications on falls ,

The event is Wednesday,  September 27 from 9 am to 1 pm at the Seventh Day Adventist Church, 12889  Osborne Hill Rd off Highway 174.   Registration is required and the deadline to register is this Friday, September 22,   to register call RSVP at 271-0255.  There is no charge to attend but there is a suggested $10 donation at the door.
